Rainbow Valley Lodge is located 2 minutes from Santa Elena, Monteverde by car. It sits on the side of a mountain which is part of the three-wattled bellbird reserve and looks over a deep valley with views to the Monteverde mountains on the other side. Located on the edge of the forest you have complete privacy and an incredible tree-top view. A wildlife magnet, this mountain allows you to view various bird species, both close up as well as flying high over the valley in front of you. Also the abundance of fruit trees surrounding the rooms attracts (in season) birds, Coatis, and white faced monkeys. Right outside your room! Rainbows can appear in the valley, hence the name.

The rooms, which were finished in 2006 are brand new, and built to N. American standards. There are only two rooms at present, so you can be assured of privacy, not only due to the lack of rooms but also because the rooms are located a minimum of 150 meters from any neighbor or road. The only noise you experience is that of nature. There is also a nice covered Rancho set on the edge of the forest where you can relax and read or bird watch.

Each room is nicely decorated with ceiling and side wall lighting and reading lamps for the bed and bed stand. A fully tiled bath with hot water to the sink, and a GAS fired hot water heater assures plenty of hot water when you return from hiking through the Cloud Forest. There is a lighted parking lot right next to the rooms.
We provide extra blankets for chilly nights, washcloths, and extra thick towels. The lodge is perfect for cozy romantic getaways or for anyone wanting to enjoy privacy and nature at the same time. The price of the lodge compares to the lower end hotels available in or near town however without dust or noise and with much higher quality. We think that you will agree that there is no lodging in Monteverde that is a better value.

The upper room is decorated in Mexican style with stucco walls, quarry tile, and Mexican wall hangings and paintings. One new Queen size bed. Dining table with two chairs and also reading lamps on the bed and bed stand. There is also a wall unit for bags and hanging clothes.

The upper room is larger, with a fully glass-enclosed balcony extending the length of the room. (click on extra pictures below) The sliding windows can be opened to enjoy the breeze and the tree tops. This balcony features an incredible view over the tree tops to the mountains on the other side of the valley and faces east for a great sunrise. You can sit all day and spot many varieties of birds and in season the monkeys will climb the fruit trees right outside your window searching for fruit. In addition, at the end of the balcony there is a small kitchen area with tiled countertop, sink, microwave, small refrigerator, toaster, dishes and coffee maker with coffee. You can take advantage of the kitchen area and make a nice breakfast of toast, yogurt, fruit etc. All the while watching the forest. You simply can not find a better room than this in Monteverde: even at twice the price!!

Have a group of 5 or less? Then take both rooms for privacy and the convenience of having the whole place for yourselves. Share the upper room for breakfast looking at the Mountains but sleep in separate rooms. You will Love it!!
